FanDuel NFL DFS Week 2 Plays: Build Around Bijan Robinson & Derrick Henry At RB

Week 2 is officially here and just like last week, I'm here to provide my favorite FanDuel NFL DFS Plays for the Sunday main slate.

Each week, I will provide you with my core plays (3) that I am building my single-entry lineup around, as well as my favorite value play (with some honorable mentions) and my favorite lower-owned play (again, with a handful of honorable mentions).

Five plays to build around and a small list of others to include in your player pool. Let's get into it.

Core Plays For The FanDuel NFL DFS Week 2 Slate

Bijan Robinson | RB | ATL ($8,900)

Week 1 showed us that it doesn't matter how bad the Falcons offense is with Cooper Rush at the helm; Bijan Robinson is going to get his. No player posted a higher Utilization Score in Week 1 (99), as Robinson played 77% of the snaps, got 68% of the rush attempts, 53% of the targets (!!) and ran 81% of the routes for a 31.3-fantasy-point performance.

The Falcons offense was, quite literally, "drop back, find Bijan, repeat", and I expect much of the same in Week 2 against the Panthers, who just gave up 59 points to the Bears. While the Falcons offense is obviously not close to the threat that the Bears are, Robinson is easily the best football player on either offense. He makes for a priority spend-up in single-entry contests this weekend.

Derrick Henry | RB | BAL ($8,700)

If you aren't playing Robinson, Derrick Henry should be an absolute priority. If you are playing Robinson, I still believe Henry should be an absolute priority, as there's no better way to solidify a rock-solid floor/ceiling combination in single-entry contests than with two stud RBs in half-PPR scoring.

The Ravens' pass game is decimated, with Zay Flowers doubtful to play and Ja'Kobi Lane on short-term IR. As 8.5-point home favorites, this should, naturally, lead the Ravens to lean even more into the run game after Henry logged 77% of the rush attempts (24) and turned them into 144 yards and a trio of scores in Week 1.

In this case, Henry's outlook could be even more bullish than last week when the Ravens ran under center on 34% of their offensive plays. This is a noticeable change for Henry, specifically, because he's now getting a six/seven-yard head start before hitting the line of scrimmage. Derrick Henry ... with a runway? Yes, please.

Mark Andrews | TE | BAL ($5,200)

The other beneficiary of the Ravens WR injuries is Mark Andrews. While he certainly looks like a shell of the Andrews that used to consistently be priced among the higher-tier, he still projects for a large enough role that makes his $5,200 feel like a free square.

With Flowers only playing one half of football last week and Lane going down, Andrews stepped up with a 25% target share (0.26 targets per route) and ran 77% of the routes. The route rate is especially noteworthy, as he failed to top 68% in each of the last two seasons while Isaiah Likely was still on the team.

Locked in as the TE1 with no positional depth behind him and now a lack of depth at receiver, he should be the de facto top target for Lamar Jackson on Sunday in a favorable game environment and matchup.

Value Play For Week 2 NFL DFS On FanDuel

Terry McLaurin | WR | WAS ($6,000)

The Cowboys-Commanders game carries the highest implied total on the slate (50.5), but getting exposure to the pass game on the Cowboys side gets difficult when building around two stud RBs given the price tags on CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. That leads me to the Commanders side, which feels grossly mispriced after seeing how the Giants shredded the Cowboys secondary last weekend.

Terry McLaurin's Week 1 performance was uninspiring. He only drew 4 targets (14%; 0.11 targets per route), had a 5.5-yard aDOT and posted only 2.4 fantasy points. The Commanders coaching staff talked about not forcing any one receiver the ball, and it was Stefon Diggs who the pass game naturally flowed through in that game (31% targets; 0.36 targets per route).

That said, I am choosing to trust the fact that McLaurin was the one always on the field, posting a 92% route rate to Diggs' 66%. If Diggs is going to operate more in a part-time role and McLaurin is the one full-time receiver, opportunity is bound to come his way in a game with this much shootout potential (50.5-point total, Commanders +4.5).

DK Metcalf | WR | PIT ($7,000)

DK Metcalf won't fit into many SE builds with the above core, but he's one of my favorite low-owned players to target on Sunday.

I'll admit to fading him most of the offseason. I simply did not think 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers would have the ability or desire to push the ball down the field as we saw in Week 1, especially with the trade for Michael Pittman. But I was wrong. In that game, Metcalf posted elite underlying numbers across the board—a 100% route rate, 26% target share (0.21 targets per route), 19.0-yard aDOT, 48% share of the air yards and a 33% end-zone target rate.

Everything we saw backed up Rodgers saying that he wanted to make it a priority to get Metcalf the ball, and now Pittman is out for Week 2. This should consolidate the targets around Metcalf even more in a tough, but not unbeatable matchup with the Patriots.

He's a bit too thin of a click for cash games, but he's an elite three-max/large-field tournament play at WR with 100-yard, multi-TD upside.
